WELCOME TO CODE 09
What happens when design classics and today´s most innovative trends and ideas meet?

Introducing CODE - the first nordic design fair ever, which will take place in the halls of Bella Center 27-30 August 2009.

CODE 09 is a part of Denmark's first international design week, CPH design: WEEK 09, which will be held at the same time in Copenhagen.

CODE 09 is a censured trade fair divided into 5 main areas: Furniture/Interior (showing all the latest trends within furniture, lighting, design, textiles and interior), Gallery (a whole new podium exhibition form, with exhibitions by new design talents and established designers from Scandinavia and the rest of the world), Sustainable Design (focusing on the tern "sustainable design"), Designboom (the international design group "Designboom" visits Copenhagen for the first time with an exhibition featuring 35 international design talents) and Nordic Selected.

NORDIC SELECTED
The activity surrounding the unique exhibition at CODE 09, "Nordic Selected", is now at it highest level. The concept of Nordic Selected is that two designers from each of the Nordic countries crown the best designs through the last decade. All of the nominated designs will then be featured in an exhibition, which has never been seen earlier in connection with a trade fair.

On the second day of the fair, Friday 28 August 2009, the winner of the NORDIC SELECTED AWARD will be selected by Prof. Dr. Florian von Hufnagl from The International Design Museum, München.

"The exhibition will embrace objects from graphic, industrial, interactive and architectural design, and we are proud to present this special exhibition in connection with the first Danish design week," says Exhibition Manager Lone Ann Disch.

The originator of the exhibition, industrial & graphic designer, MDD, Boris Berlin of Komplot Design, has brought together the following people to act as curators for the exhibition:
Finland: Laura Sarvilinna - Huippu/design/Management, Yrjö Wiherheimo - Yrjö Wiherheimo.
Iceland: Harpa Thorsdottir - Museum of Design and Applied Art, Adalsteinn Stefánsson, Iceland Dance Company.
Norway: Torbjörn Anderssen - Norway Says, Hans Petter Smeby - Nytt Rom.
Sweden: Monica Förster - Monica Förster Design, Björn Dahlström - Dahlström Design AB.
Denmark: Peter Hiort-Lorenzen - Tegnestuen Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen, Christian Olesen - Kunstindustrimuseet.

MORE NAMES JOINING IN ON CODE 09
The finalised list of exhibitors will be announced in February, but we were already able to announce several very important exhibitors in the last newsletter: Fritz Hansen, Normann Copenhagen, and Nicolai Bergmann, all of whom guarantee the quality of the new exhibition concept.
Now, shortly before Christmas, more significant exhibitors have signed up to participate in CODE 09.

PP Møbler is a small, family-owned furniture manufacturer with a tradition of creating designer furniture of the highest quality and craftsmanship. The world famous Danish designer Hans J. Wegner is featured prominently by PP Møbler, in addition to other talented designers.

Under the name bObles, the sisters Bolette and Louise Blædel have created a series of multifunctional children's furniture that has not only taken the international design world by storm, but has also turned children's motor skills development into a game. The first animals saw the light of day in 2005 and have since won the "formidable" design award. At the recent Danish design fair in France, "Absolut Design Danois", bObles was featured with the legendary names in classic Danish furniture history, Fritz Hansen and Louis Poulsen.

CPH design: WEEK 09
The first coordination meeting between all of the programme partners has now been held. Copenhagen will truly sizzle with design during CPH design: WEEK 09, the first and largest comprehensive design platform in Denmark for marketing Danish and international design.

The prospects are very promising, many different types of institutions are participating, and Denmark's position as one of the world's leading design countries is being promoted in an innovative way. Danish Design Center will soon announce the impressive programme for CPH design: WEEK 09.

You will receive ongoing updates on both CODE 09 and CPH design: WEEK 09 via www.code09.dk, where it is also possible to sign up to receive coming newsletters.

TEAM CODE wishes all of you a very Merry Christmas
 and a successful 2009
